What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

The carpal tunnel syndrome is inflammation of the medium nerve, as it passes thru the carpal tunnel; the CARPAL tunnel is a channel that is formed by the bones of the wrist and the annular ligaments. Through which the median nerve passes (one of the nerves in the hand). When the median nerve swells, it is compressed by tendon, bone and ligament that will produce the pain when there is movement.

Which are the causes for the carpal tunnel syndrome?

So many tendons that cross the channel of the median nerve as it passes, has a space very fair in the central area. If for any cause the nerve swells, the space decreases a lot more, then the nerve is compressed. The cause of this inflammation can be an infection caused by Borrelia, when treatment is provided using antibiotic therapy, pain subsides immediately.

The carpal tunnel syndrome is associated with rheumatic diseases; patient related it to hand repetitive activities, but does not notice that is almost always associated with arthritis, migraine, back pain, etc.

Who does the carpal tunnel syndrome affect?

Carpel tunnel syndrome is a very frequent pathology, which affects a lot of the population in general and when it affects the workers, there are the specific attribute to work, but the carpal tunnel syndrome comes with a generalized involvement of the whole body. Almost always has arthralgia or painful sensation in other places and the surgeons quickly o-perated them, the majority of the patient we've seen in our clinic are repentant for the surgery, because they remain with discomfort in the area, besides also present arthralgia's, back pain, migraines, etc.

At the beginning the majority of the patients complain of pain in the region of the wrist and forearm, associating sensations of numbness, cramps and tingling in the thumb, index, middle, and part of the ring finger. These symptoms are typically with movement. If it is not treated with antibiotics, weakness and atrophy will appear in some of the hand muscles.

How is the carpal tunnel syndrome diagnosed?

The patient comes to the doctor and complains about motion discomfort in the region, immediately comes the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome, but the doctor does not notice that the patient also presents arthralgia's, migraine, back pain, depression, insomnia, etc.

Hospital Mexico Treatment

In our experience it almost always is cured with administered antibiotics for the other symptoms that the patient presents, we've never have had the necessary to perform surgery. Also do not prescribe a splint since the patient responds immediately to antibiotics.

Surgical Treatment of the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

We never recommend it, even though we have the easy capacity to do it in out hospital.

What are the results?

Almost all patients experience a satisfactory improvement during the first month, it would be unlikely if our patient relapses; if the patient performs well the treatment for 3 months with antibiotics, analgesics or corticosteroids are not prescribed.

If you are a patient with this characteristics then you must call us for more information.

Carla, has suffered 6 years with migraine.

Rene, 4 years with rheumatoid arthritis.

Florina, 3 years with Lupus.

Irene, diagnosed by fibromyalgia.

Dr. Manuel R. Lazo

Medical Director

Hi, I am Dr. Manuel Lazo, Hospital Mexico’ s medical director. We have been treating patients for over 20 years, and seen that the traditional treatments do not cure, but instead only calms the symptoms for a while, as the disease keeps progressing and the medications are not only expensive but they can have horrible side effects.

Our Hospital is one of the few places in the world where patients with migraine, arthritis, lower back pain and facial paralysis could be cured.

About our treatment

When you come here for consult, we do dark field microscopy in which we look for spirochaetes in your blood.

We take away your symptoms and cure your disease with antibiotics, depending on the patient and severity of the problem. We do not use natural or “alternative” medicine, only antibiotics which can be purchased at a pharmacy.
